'62 VBB on back patio of KCRA

The Scoot Shop was on the local morning show on KQCA Channel 58. The segment, “Ride a Scooter, Save Money,” aired this morning, live on the back patio of the KCRA studio. The segment featured the SYM HD200, a 1962 Vespa VBB and the Classic, an all-electric scooter from e-Moto.

This morning started early for The Scoot Shop. We had to be at the KCRA Channel 3 building by 8am with scooters in tow. Fortunately, we had loaded the scoots on the Kendon trailer the night before. Rebekah and Theron dressed in their Scoot Shop t-shirts, thinking that the live shoot would take place indoors. The weather outside this morning was a bit chilly and windy. When we arrived at the studio we were directed around back to offload. There, we met the photographer outside setting up for the segment. We joked about how we were going to be shivering thoughout the shoot with only our tee’s on.

The 3.5 minute piece went by quickly with Theron and Rebekah both fielding questions from anchor, Chris Riva. At the tail end of the segment, fellow anchor, Walt Gray and news director, Anzio Williams came out to check out the scoots. They joked and took pics on the scooters. If you watch the video clip you can hear Walt in the background offering cash for the Vespa. Show me the money, Walt! Chris’s assistant, Gretchen tried to get another live shot in of Rebekah riding one of the scooters. Unfortunately, President Obama’s economic update trumped The Scoot Shop.
